Tech tips from the Staff meeting

Thank you for listening to me today. I am very excited about the possibilities technology has to offer. I am so cognisant of my own weakness in this area but am driven to find out more and try harness some of the power.

All credit goes to the presenters at the http://www.earcos.org/eac2008/conference. I would really encourage you to get to tech or EARCOS conferences.
Of particular mention is Alan November and he has amazing resources at http://www.novemberlearning.com/ . Check out the links on his page especially free infolit resources.

Another person who should receive credit for spinning my world is Jeff Utecht.

DOMAIN NAMES - to answer Nikole's question.
Here are some links to websites which give you more on domain names.

Good old wikipedia has a great list.

ac also works for academic and Ascension Islands.

Please chat to me about any questions you have about my presentation.

Things I did not discuss but am very interested in doing and / or exploring are:
Twitter --- twirl
You use your twirl to twitter.
What this is a message service which can be got on PC or mobile phone.
I am currently using twitter to do High School announcements. Nobody gets these announcements but if you are a tech junkie perhaps you will follow this twitter.
The twitter name is tcishighschool.
All you need to do is follow my twitter. Please let me know what you think of this gadget. Will it make sense to roll out to students? Should teachers use a staff twitter to communicate?

RSS feeds
I have signed up with netvibes.
This is a RSS feeder, there are other readers out there, which means all the sites I go to every day now come to one page for me to quickly scan. This is a huge time saver. Thank you Jeff Utecht for this great time saver tip. Please stop me or pop in my office and I would love to show you this great tool.

Technorati
Is a site which means Jeff Utecht probably gets notified that I have quoted him. It is a tool which brings blog searches alive but one I have not yet used, but I will.

I am happy to discuss any of the above.
